Insemination in livestock farming

Insemination of livestock farming is one of the manners of reproduction.

Insemination is the fertilisation of a female breeding animal or female animal with the semen of a male breeding animal, which may be carried out as a livestock farming service, a veterinary service, or as a zoo-technical task.

Only the semen of male breeding animals selected for insemination purposes with a valid zoo-technical document on the recognition of the male breeding animal and with a completed test on its descendants in accordance with the breeding programme may be used for insemination.

The act of insemination may be performed by a concessionaire or a holder with a concession.

Insemination providers, both concessionaires and holders with a concession, are obligated to fill out a certificate on the insemination of an animal in three copies upon each insemination. One copy is received by the holder of the female breeding animal or female animal, another copy is received by the semen collection centre where the semen was purchased, and the final copy is received by the concessionaire.

This type of insemination is not used for poultry, rabbits, bees, fish, and other wild animals.
