Rail freight transport

Transport services in rail freight transport are performed by a freight services provider as a form of public transport ensuring a comprehensive and integral logistical service.

Cargo transport comprises the transport of carriages, cisterns, car trains, hazardous substances and similar.

Two priority rail freight corridors (RFC) run across Slovenia, i.e. RFC 5 and RFC 6.

The priority Rail Freight Corridor 5 runs from Poland across the Czech Republic, Slovakia, Austria, Slovenia and Italy. As at 10 November 2013, the priority Rail Freight Corridor 6 was introduced, running from Spain across France, Italy, Slovenia and Hungary.

Freight or cargo transporters must ensure access to a public railway infrastructure, a licence to pursue transport services, safety certificate and train route.
