Vocational Rehabilitation and Employment of People with Disabilities Act
A disability company must initially acquire consent from the Government of the RS and a decision from the minister of labour, family, social affairs and equal opportunities.
A company that aims to operate as a disability company must employ at least 40% of disabled persons among all employees; they must prepare a business plan and employ at least one professional worker; if the company employs and qualifies more than three disabled persons, they require one professional worker for every 20 disabled employees.
Professional workers in the employment rehabilitation and employment of persons with disabilities are: workers with university, higher or higher professional education in medicine, pedagogy, psychology, sociology, social or other studies and have knowledge of rehabilitation, employment or protection of persons with disabilities; this knowledge must be acquired with a specialisation, additional training or further education.
Explanation of the Statistical Office of the Republic of Slovenia (SURS): A business entity that is registered in the Business Register of Slovenia (PRS) to perform a disability company activity must select the code of the main activity that applies to the manufacture or services they perform. The business entity registers the code 88.101 Activity of enterprises employing disabled persons as the first side activity. This code cannot be registered as the main activity.
