Certification and control over the production of organic and integrated agricultural products
Certification and control over the production of organic and integrated agricultural products are carried out by organisations for control and certification of agricultural products. The organisations are legal and natural entities appointed with the decision by the minister competent for agriculture, forestry and food. The tasks in the organisation are implemented by a controller for control and certification who has an authorisation to conduct individual actions in the administrative procedure. The control over the operation of organisations for control and certification is carried out by the Inspectorate for Agriculture, Forestry and Food.
There are currently three organisations appointed in Slovenia for the control over the production of organic agricultural products or foodstuffs and issuing of certificates:
Institute of Inspection and Certification in Agriculture and in Silviculture (KON-CERT), Institute for the Control and Certification of University of Maribor for technical testing and analysis, Bureau Veritas d.o.o.

Conditions

Organisations which want to pursue the control and certification of agricultural products must be appointed by the minister on the basis of a public tender.
Such decision is published in the Official Gazette of the Republic of Slovenia.
The organisation must have an accreditation document as the evidence on fulfilling conditions of the SIST 45011 standard.

Organisations for control and certification of agricultural products are included under public services in the field of agriculture. The obligations of the public service are the following: constant and consistent implementation of the activities and services; provision of services for every natural or legal entity pursuing the agricultural activity as per this act or showing legal interest; implementation of services according to a specific programme; implementation of service at a specific price.
