Marking wildlife animals in captivity
Marking animals means placing a mark on or in an animal or documenting their characteristics; if necessary or stipulated, marking also entails the sampling of material for molecular and genetic analyses.
Wildlife animals that are marked are mammals, birds and reptiles.
The owner of the animal is responsible for marking the animal. The owner of the animal must mark it in ten working days from the acquisition at the latest or in five working days after completed quarantine if this is longer than ten working days.
Animals can be marked only by qualified persons.
