Establishments producing food of animal origin must be registered or approved in accordance with the Rules on the establishments carrying out activities involving food of animal origin prior to commencing their activity.

A supplementary farm activity may be implemented after the finality of a permit to pursue supplementary farm activity and after all conditions determined by the sector regulations to begin an individual supplementary activity are fulfilled.

• List of activities usually carried out as a craft

For activities listed on the List of activities usually carried out as a craft, business entities registering these activities must also be entered in the register of crafts at the Chamber of Craft and Small Business of Slovenia (OZS) ex officio.

This applies to the following activities/services:
• processing of fresh milk, pasteurised, sterilised and homogenised milk,
• production of non-alcoholic beverages based on milk,
• production of pasteurised, sterilised, homogenised cream from milk,
• production of concentrated milk, milk powder, sweetened or unsweetened milk,
• production of raw butter and buttermilk,
• production of yoghurt,
• production of cheese and cottage cheese,
• production of whey,
• production of casein and lactose, bottling processed fresh milk.
