Performing seed unit analyses for agricultural plants under official control
The analysis of seed units under official supervision is only carried out for seed units in the process of formal confirmation.
All suppliers who intend to market seed materials of a specific species of agricultural plants as formally confirmed must have formally confirmed seed units.
The analysis of the seed units of agricultural plants is performed by laboratories that are appointed for performing the analyses of seed units of agricultural plants under official supervision.
A laboratory for the analysis of seed quality may be:
A laboratory must be managed by the head seed analyst who is directly responsible for the professional activities of the laboratory. Analysts carry out seed unit analyses.
The official supervision of the performance of activities is carried out by the Agricultural Institute of Slovenia, which is the authority for the formal confirmation of the seed units of agricultural plants.

Applicants who wish to pursue this activity must register the business activity, and have the appropriate legal status.

An analyst is an individual who performs quality analyses of seeds within a laboratory under official supervision.
Seed quality analysis under official supervision may only be performed by analysts who have been appointed by a competent authority.

A head analyst is an individual who is directly responsible for the professional activities of the laboratory.
In order to perform their tasks, a head analyst must be appointed by the relevant competent authority.
Cross-border/temporary provisions of activity
Performance of the activity in Slovenia is possible on cross-border/temporary basis. Acquisition of permits is not required prior to commencing the service.
