Pilotage
Pilotage entails the provision of advice to the master mariner with regard to ship navigation. This ensures safe navigation in ports and other areas of the territorial waters and internal sea.
Pilotage is implemented by naval pilots.
Pilotage is:
- coastal:
Coastal pilotage entails the pilotage of the vessel in the part of the territorial sea outside the port pilotage area.
- port:
Port pilotage is the pilotage in the port area.
Pilotage is not mandatory for vessels used for administrative purposes and for domestic military ships and for ships with gross tonnage to 500 m and for ships which are determined with regard to type and the experience of the master mariner in every single case, i.e. by the Slovenian Maritime Administration.
