Technical and vocational secondary education (85.320)

This SCA code includes activities and services for which entrance and/or other conditions for the commencement and pursuit of an activity are established. 

Regulations and conditions:

  • Organization and Financing of Education Act

    Public and private schools must ensure expert staff, premises and equipment. Private schools which implement programmes according to special pedagogical principles must comply with the prescribed conditions for space and equipment in public schools.
    Expert staff must have an active knowledge of Slovenian, suitable education as determined in the Act and other regulations, and must pass a professional examination in accordance with the aforementioned Act.
    Expert staff in a vocational or technical school include:
  • Teacher of general subjects in secondary education;
  • Teacher of professional and theoretical subjects in secondary education;
  • Counsellor in education;
  • Librarian in education;
  • Laboratory technician in education;
  • Organiser in education.

Relating to the Slovenian education system, the activities include NACE Rev. 2 Class 85.32 - Technical and vocational secondary education activities of institutions implementing programmes in categories/levels 3B and 3C Upper secondary education (ISCED 1997). These institutions also provide programmes which enable the continuation or completion of vocational secondary education (programmes of vocational courses) in another way, which in Slovenia are classified as category/level 4 Post-secondary non-tertiary education (ISCED 1997).

Accordingly, Class 85.32 - Technical and vocational secondary education in Slovenia encompasses activities of institutions implementing programmes in suitable categories/levels 3 and 4 (ISCED 1997). These include education whose fundamental objective is training for the performance of one related profession or more or preparation for work. General knowledge is combined with vocational and in some programmes also involves practical work.

This includes education implemented according to:

  • publicly applicable programmes of short and secondary vocational education,
  • secondary technical and
  • other vocational education (e.g. vocational and technical education, vocational courses), including secondary vocational and technical education adjusted to children with special needs;
  • secondary vocational and technical education with language adjustments;
  • secondary vocational and technical education adjusted to adults.
