Test stations in horse husbandry, cattle, pig, sheep, and goat farming

A test station is an approved organisation for the measuring of the properties of domestic animals for the needs of selection programmes and for the needs of comparative tests for the breeding of studs.

The tasks of a test station are carried out by a legal or a natural entity entered into the Register of Test Stations on the basis of an issued decision on the approval of a test station.

Testing procedures and manners for particular species of domestic animals and comparative tests are carried out in accordance with breeding programmes. A breeding programme includes the methods and measures for the breeding of domestic animals of a certain species or breed.

Test stations are in operation for the following domestic animals:

  • cattle farming,
  • horse husbandry,
  • pig farming,
  • sheep and goat farming.

The tasks of a test station are carried out by the test station manager and an expert worker who conducts experiments.
