Regulations and conditions:
As per Article 19 of the Plant Health Act, producers, importers and distributors of seed potato and importers and collection and distribution centres of ware potato must be entered in the FITO Register kept by the Administration of the Republic of Slovenia for Food Safety, Veterinary Sector and Plant Protection (UVHVVR). More detailed provisions are stipulated in the Rules on conditions for the registration of producers, processors, importers and distributors of plants, plant products and regulated articles, and on conditions for issuing plant passports. Storage of importers and distributors of potato who wash, sort or pack potato must be officially authorised by the UVHVVR. Details are included in the Rules on additional requirements regarding the introduction from third countries and movement of potatoes, to prevent the risk of introduction of harmful organisms.
