Wood skidding and other forest works
Forest works also encompass wood skidding which is carried out with adapted agricultural tractors or with forest cableways where the skidding with tractors is not possible. Trained workers are required to carry out these works, namely:
- forest cableway operator,
- forest tractor driver
A head of working groups is required for planning, management and supervision and may manage, plan or supervise several consecutive phases in the field of forest exploitation or only individual phases of forest work.
Prior to the implementation of activity, registration is required, whereas prior to the start of works an application must be lodged with the competent forestry inspection.

Applicants who wish to pursue this activity must register the business activity, and have the appropriate legal status.

A forest cableway operator is an individual who operates the forest cableway. A forest cableway is used for wood skidding in hard-to-access, steep terrains.
A forest cableway operator requires a certificate on national vocational qualification. Male/female forest cableway operator.
In addition to adequate competence, a forest cableway operator must pass the safety at work course and use suitable working equipment.

A forest tractor skids the wood from the forest to the forest road, where he prepares it to be transported by a forest truck.
A forest tractor driver requires a certificate on national vocational qualification. Female/male forest tractor driver.

A head organises working groups that conduct various forest works. A head plans, manages and supervises individual phases in forest or several consecutive phases in the field of forest exploitation.
A head must have adequate education, pass the safety at work course and use suitable equipment.

Before the first implementation of works in forest, the contractors must submit the competent forestry inspection the evidence on the professional qualification of workers and prove that they comply with the conditions related to the safety at work. On the basis of the application, the competent forestry inspection enters the contractor on the list of contractors of forest works.
