Contract on the implementation of mandatory public utility service

Transport of passengers in internal and cross-border regional railway transport is ensured by the state as a public asset with mandatory public utility service in the scope as stipulated by the transport policy in public passenger transport.

Mandatory public utility service for transporters entails direct transport and activities that enable undisturbed, effective and rational transport on a quality level. The provider of mandatory public utility service must provide for effective management and stimulate this form of public transport by ensuring quality transport. Mandatory public utility service for passenger transport in internal and cross-border regional railway transport must be provided continuously in accordance with timetable.

The provider of mandatory public utility service and transporter is the company Slovenske železnice, d. o. o. that performs public passenger transport in internal and cross-border regional railway transport.

The state and the mandatory public utility service provider conclude a contract on the implementation of the mandatory public utility service.

The duration of the contract on the implementation of mandatory public utility service is limited and not longer than ten years, it can be extended by maximum one half of the initial duration.
