Entry in the Register of Design and Trade Mark Representatives
The Office keeps the Register of Design and Trade Mark Representatives. Application for registration in the Register must include:
- Applicant’s data (surname, name, address and education): if the applicant is a sole trader or a legal person, an extract from the Slovenian Business Register or from the court register (both are kept by the Agency of the Republic of Slovenia for Public Legal Records and Related Services (AJPES)) shall be obtained ex officio by the Office in accordance with the third paragraph of Article 66 of the General Administrative Procedure Act (ZUP). If the applicant is a natural person, the Office shall also obtain this personal data on the basis of the third paragraph of Article 66 ZUP from the official records; however, if the applicant declares that he/she prohibits the Office to obtain these personal data from the official records or that he/she wishes to obtain these data by himself/herself, the applicant must provide appropriate supporting documents showing his/her details;
- The attached supporting documents proving the compliance with the requirements (university degree and certificate of design and trade mark representative examination passed before the Office or a proof that the applicant is an attorney or, in the case of a law firm, a proof that the applicant is a law firm);
- Proof of the fee payment;
- Proof of employment of a person meeting the requirements for a design and trade mark representative who has a university degree and has passed a design and trade mark representative examination before the Office (legal persons only);
- List of persons meeting the requirements for a design and trade mark representative who have a university degree and have passed a design and trade mark representative examination before the Office (legal persons only).
The following data are entered in the Register of Design and Trade Mark Representatives:
- Type of representative: design and trade mark representative;
- Registration number;
- Date of registration;
- Data on the representative (in the case of a natural person: surname, name, address and education);
- Data on the representative (in the case of a legal person: registered name, registered office and list of natural persons meeting the requirements for a design and trade mark representative (who have a university degree and have passed the design and trade mark representative examination before the Office), and employed by the legal person, including their data (surname, name and education)).

Design and trade mark representatives must have a university degree. Proof of the acquired education shall be attached to the application for the registration in the Register of Design and Trade Mark Representatives.

In the design and trade mark representative examination, a candidate's knowledge in the field of industrial property law focusing on the law related to designs, trade marks and geographical indications is examined.
The examination may undertake persons with university degree. A candidate shall submit a written application to the examination, which includes information about the candidate (surname, name, address, telephone) and proof of his/her qualifications.
The examination is taken before a three-member committee of the Office, conducting written and oral part of the examination and deciding whether the candidate has passed the examination.
The candidate who passes the examination receives the examination certificate.
Costs of the examination are EUR 163.10. If the candidate is assessed as "failed" in one thematic area of the oral part of the examination, he/she may re-sit the examination. The re-sit examination is composed of oral part only and it covers only the thematic area in which the candidate was previously assessed as "failed".
