Entry in the register of independent journalists
The written application for the entry in the register must contain the following data:
- name and surname of the applicant,
- date and place of birth,
- street and place of permanent residence and the street and place of potential temporary residence,
- data on citizenship,
- date of desired entry in the register.

If the applicant is not the citizen of the Republic of Slovenia, he must attach the evidence on the active knowledge of the Slovenian language to the application for the entry in the register the.
The active knowledge of the Slovenian language is determined on the basis of the certificate issued by the Centre for Slovene at the Faculty of Arts of the University of Ljubljana.

An individual pursues the journalism as the only or main profession when he is not in an employment relationship for more than a part-time or does not pursue any other independent professional activity.
The statement of the proposer is used as evidence of the fulfilled condition.

Copies or recording of articles, news coverage, interviews and other types of journalism published under the applicant's name are regarded as the evidence on the fulfilment of condition.
At least 20 pieces of evidence must be submitted for the period of one year before the submission and the names of media publishing the articles must also be stated.
The issue of the statement of the media, a journalist is working for or cooperating with, is deemed as the evidence on the fulfilment of condition.

The applicant must submit the evidence stating that no final court decision prohibits him to pursue the activity of journalism.
The statement that a person has not been prohibited from practising journalism with the final court decision is used as the evidence.

An applicant must acquire a preliminary opinion of the registered professional organisation of journalists.
A representative professional organisation of journalists with at least 100 member journalists or other authors of media contributions is deemed as a registered professional organisation of journalists.
