Entry in the Register of livestock owners

The owners who breed the following animals must enter in the register:

  • bovine animals, ungulates;
  • small cattle, pigs, game from the wire pen, alpacas, llamas, snails;
  • poultry, rabbits;
  • aquaculture, bees.

An owner of breeding animals enters in the register of owners on the basis of an application with the following data:

  • name and surname or the company and address or the head office of the owner of animals;
  • personal identification number (hereinafter referred to as: PIN), or the registration number of the business entity of the owner of animals or tax ID number;
  • location of the holding (postal address if available, otherwise geographical coordinates of the location – N,E according to ETRS89), and exceptionally also the data from the cadastre (cadastral municipality, plot);
  • identification number of the agricultural holding (KMG-MID) if available, or the identification number of the holding (G-MID) if available;
  • number by the species of breeding animals;
  • signature of the owner;
  • with the owner's consent also the contact information (e-mail and telephone numbers)

Agricultural holdings entered in the official records and kept within the scope of the competent authority and which indicate that the owner breeds the animals at the location of the holding are entered in the register of owners ex officio.

An owner of breeding animals must report any changes of the data on the owner or holding within 30 days after the change at the latest.

Before the entry in the register of owners of animals, an owner of animals must have appropriate education or be professionally qualified.

Conditions

These terms apply to the profession Holder of mariculture

  • Before entering in the register of holders of farm animals, a holder must complete appropriate education. Holders of animals must complete education according to educational programmes, where the livestock production was included as a course at vocational and secondary schools in the field of agriculture or veterinary science. The education at higher professional schools, high professional education and university programme in the field of agriculture or veterinary science is also included

    Legal basis

  • Holders of animals must be professionally qualified to conduct tasks in the field of livestock production or zoo-technical tasks. The programme of professional training for the holder of animals to conduct zoo-technical tasks lasts from 8 to maximum 16 school hours, if it includes five or more tasks. For an individual zoo-technical task the training lasts from 3 to maximum 4 school hours. The programme covers the following topics:

     

    first aid (sampling, probing, stoppage of haemorrhages, wound treatment, assistance in giving birth; castration of piglets younger than one week; application of iron preparations against the anaemia of piglets; cutting of tails in piglets and lambs up to the fourth day of age; pinching or sharpening of teeth in piglet on the first day after birth; maintenance and care of claws, hooves and cleaning of animals; admission of breeding animals; external operational examination for pregnancy; marking of domestic animals; application and use of permitted pharmacological means that are not bound to prescriptions and application of medications according to the instructions of a veterinarian; disinfection and disinsection of livestock facilities with permitted means; care and shearing of fur and wool; bee-keeping tasks; clipping of bee queen's wings, and other bee-keeping tasks.

     

    An applicant lodges an application with the training provider. The material is prepared by the training provider in a written from and in the Slovenian language for each participant. The costs of training and issuing of official certificates are borne by the participant. After the completed training, the participant receives the certificate of completed training.
