Entry of the rearing facility of queen bees in the register
The approved rearing facility of queen bees is entered in the register based on the decision on approval.
At the entry of the rearing facility of queen bees in the register, the following data must be provided: name and surname of the owner of the rearing facility of queen bees;
- the address of the rearing facility of queen bees;
- registration number of beehives included in the queen bees rearing;
- type of queen bees, for which the rearing facility has been approved;
- the period of rearing facility approval;
- the number and date of the decision on the approval of the rearing facility of queen bees.
The rearer lodges the application for the approval of the rearing facility of queen bees at the competent authority. The application must contain:
- the address of the rearing facility of queen bees;
- the name and surname of the breeder;
- registration number of apiaries intended for rearing queen bees;
- written statement of the organisation in livestock farming that the breeding facility of queen bees has exclusively queen bees of the indigenous Carniolan bee;
- the drawing of the ground plan of the facility or several facilities where queen bees will be reared;
- the envisaged number of reared queen bees indicating their type: pedigree or commercial queens; the description of ensuring veterinary measures and preventive health care of bees at the rearing facility of queens
- copy of the valid contract that regulates the supply of the prescribed forms and reporting on reared queens,
- concluded with the livestock farming organisation at least for the period of the approval for the rearing facility;
- evidence on qualification;
- expert opinion of a distinguished livestock farming organisation on the suitability of rearing queen bees.
After an administrative and content review, the competent authority issues a decision on the approval of the rearing facility of queen bees for five years.
Prior to the approval, the rearing facility must ensure the appropriate number of apiaries and standing sites, appropriate facilities and equipment, appropriate bee families, the set up of indigenous Carniolan bees and the tasks that the rearer of queens must perform.
