Environmental Permit
An asbestos disposal entity may dispose of asbestos waste from plants if it holds an environmental permit subject to the following conditions:
- it is a company or sole trader authorised to perform construction or plant maintenance activities;
- it has available personal protective equipment (PPE) for exposed workers in accordance with health and safety at work regulations governing the protection of workers from risks related to exposure to asbestos at work;
- it has available installations and equipment for preventing the emission of asbestos into the environment;
- it ensures disposal methods by which the concentration of airborne asbestos fibres at the disposal site does not exceed the threshold values determined in regulations governing the protection of workers from risks related to exposure to asbestos at work;
- it ensures that the concentration of airborne asbestos fibres being released into the surroundings through filters does not exceed the threshold values referred to in Article 20 of this Decree when disposing of loosely bound asbestos;
- it has available waste management equipment in accordance with regulations on asbestos waste management.
Register of entities authorised to dispose of asbestos waste
After a contractor has obtained an environmental permit, it shall be entered ex officio in the REGISTER OF ENTITIES holding an environmental permit for the disposal of asbestos waste as referred to in Article 6 of the aforementioned Decree.
