The entry in th FITO register for special post-processing of wooden packaging material
A facility that aims to post-process wooden packaging material in accordance with the ISPM-15 standard must be entered in the FITO register.
The FITO register is a register of producers, processors, importers and distributors of plants, plant products and controlled items managed by the Administration of the Republic of Slovenia for Food Safety, Veterinary Sector and Plant Protection.
The register manages data on the facility, their responsible person for health protection of plants and on the site for processing or special post-processing of wooden packaging material.
A facility which aims to be entered in the FITO register must ensure a professionally qualified responsible person for health protection of plants, and have technical equipment for special post-processing of wooden packaging material. They must sign the statement on fulfilling the obligations arising from registration.
The register is initiated and managed by the competent authority.
The register can be managed in electronic form. The application for the entry in the register is lodged at the competent authority. The copy of a complete application is sent by the competent authority to the approval authority which is considered as the application for official approval. After the official approval procedure and if the facility fulfils the conditions, the decision on the entry in the register is issued in three months after receiving a complete application.
