Activity of tutors
An individual who wishes to perform an educational activity as a sole proprietor may acquire the status of a tutor.
In order to acquire the status, they must fulfil the conditions regarding qualifications, knowledge of language, residence and criminal record, and be entered in the register kept by the relevant ministry.

Applicants who wish to provide education as a private entities must acquire the status of a private tutor.
To acquire this status, they must meet conditions regarding qualifications, knowledge of languages and residence, have no criminal record, and be entered in the register managed by the competent ministry.

Applicants must meet the conditions for one of the following professions:
- nursery teacher;
- practical lessons teacher in secondary education;
- general subject teacher in secondary education;
- teacher of professional and theoretical subjects in secondary education;
- teacher in a music school;
- teacher in an elementary school;
- teacher for children with special needs;
- counsellor or
- other expert worker in a public school.

Applicants must not be in a full-time employment relationship.

Applicants must be permanent residents of the Republic of Slovenia.

Applicants have not been prohibited from pursuing an activity with a final decision.

Applicants have never been:
- convicted res judicata of a premeditated criminal offence which is prosecuted ex officio, to an unconditional sentence of imprisonment for more than 6 months;
- convicted res judicata of a sexual offence.

A person who wants to acquire the status of a natural entity, must lodge an application for the entry in the register of providers of publicly valid programmes at the relevant authority.
The applicant must submit the application on the prescribed form. If the service provider fulfils the conditions for the entry in the register, the minister issues a decision on entry in the register, thus registering the natural entity in the list of providers of publicly valid education and training programmes.
The decision determines the maximum number of children which can be entered in the programme of the natural entity with regard to work area and spatial conditions.
