Bee-keeping
Bee-keeping is an agricultural branch dealing with the keeping of bees for the purpose of acquiring their products, mainly honey and way, and also for the purpose of pollination. The most suitable and most common bee used for these purposes is the European honey bee.
Bees are usually kept in apiaries. The most important bee products are: honey, pollen, royal jelly, and propolis.
A bee keeper with a registered agricultural holding who is entered into the Register of Holders of Farm Animals is responsible for keeping bees. Each apiary must be registered in the Register of Apiaries.
The registration of bee yards is performed by a bee forage organisation (bee-keeping society or the Bee-keeping Association of Slovenia).
