This SCA code includes activities and services for which entrance and/or other conditions for the commencement and pursuit of an activity are established.

Regulations and conditions:

  •  Inland Waterways Navigation Act

While observing natural features, local communities arrange navigation on an individual inland waterway in their area with a general legal act on determining navigational regime due to safety of navigation while implementing tourist, sports and recreational activities and accelerating their development. When determining navigational regimes, a local community must observe the provisions of this Act and regulations issued pursuant thereto, regulations on environment protection, nature and water conservation, freshwater fishing, spatial planning, natural features and other conditions ensuring protection of human life and the environment.

Conditions for ships:

A ship is suitable for navigation within determined navigational limits and for a defined purpose if it meets the prescribed conditions (Article 18) and if registered in the register of ships.

The title of ship crew member must be obtained to navigate a ship. The professional examination for the acquisition of a ship crew member is taken at the Slovenian Maritime Administration, which also issues authorisations to crew members for the implementation of works of a certain title if the prescribed conditions are met.

Conditions for boats:

The seaworthiness of a boat is established  by standard, regular or extraordinary inspection conducted by the Slovenian Maritime Administration for boats of up to 12 metres or a classification institution which is a full member of the International Association of Classification Societies. The inspection of boats measuring over 12 metres is conducted by a classification institution which is a full member of the International Association of Classification Societies or another classification institution authorised by the minister on the basis of a tender. All boats must be registered in the register of boats, except:
  • boats belonging to a ship or another vessel;
  • sports rowing boats;
  • boats shorter than five metres unless they have an engine with power above 3.7 kW.
If the boats under points 2 and 3 are intended for business activity, they must be entered in the register of boats.

Boats are entered in the register managed at the administrative unit where the boat is located and used. The register of boats is a public register.

The boat may be operated by a person whose operational ability is established in a prescribed manner and who has been issued a suitable document, which the person must always keep on hand while operating the boat. The procedure for establishing qualifications for operating a boat and issuing relevant documents is conducted by the Slovenian Maritime Administration.
