Exam for service technicians for equipment containing fluorinated greenhouse gases or ozone-depleting substances
A service technician for equipment containing fluorinated greenhouse gases or ozone-depleting substances must be professionally qualified.
Before taking the exam, the service technician candidate must take part in a training programme consisting of a theoretical and a practical part. Having completed the training programme, the candidate can take the exam. To enrol in the training programme and take the exam, the candidate must submit an application to the training provider. The application deadline is no later than 10 days prior to the exam date.
There is an examination catalogue for each training programme and exam, which sets out in detail the exam subjects, the manner in which the exam is conducted and its scope (product, service, work tasks), the length of the exam, the evaluation criteria, the minimum requirements for passing the exam and the recommended reading material.
Programme A – refrigeration/air conditioning/heat pumps: examination catalogue.
Programme C – fire protection equipment: examination catalogue.
Programme D – high-voltage switchgear: examination catalogue.
Programme E – air conditioning systems in motor vehicles: examination catalogue.

Candidates who want to take the authorised service technician exam must be at least 18 years of age.

The candidate must have a relevant education and work experience to take the authorised service technician exam.The candidate must have a relevant education and work experience to take the authorised service technician exam.
Relevant education and work experience correspond to:
- two years of work experience in equipment maintenance;
- at least a secondary vocational education in technical fields and nine months of work experience in equipment maintenance;
- at least a secondary vocational education in other fields and twelve months of work experience in maintenance of equipment referred to in this Regulation or at least a secondary technical education and twelve months of work experience in equipment maintenance.

Before taking the exam, the candidate must also attend a relevant training programme and obtain a certificate of attendance issued by the training provider.
The training programme covers subjects that are tested on the exam and are described in the examination catalogue for each type of equipment.

Renewal term: The certificate is valid for five years.
