Permit to breed native and non-native animal species

A permit is required to breed native and non-native animal species.

If a non-native species is bred, an assessment of risks for the nature must be implemented.

A bred animal must be marked in the prescribed way.

The permit is not required for certain animals, i.e. from the groups of mammals, birds, fish and invertebrates, which are specifically determined in a regulation.

A breeder, who breeds animals for sale, must also keep records on animal trade. Breeding register is managed in a uniform database (register on animal trade).
