Chief mate on a ship with gross tonnage between 500 and 3.000
A chief mate is an officer second in command to the sea captain and takes over the command of the ship when the sea captain incapacitated. In order to perform this profession he or she must obtain an authorisation for the rank of chief mate on a ship with gross tonnage between 500 and 3.000.
Conditions

For acquiring the authorisation for the title deck officer on a ship with gross tonnage from 500 to 3.000, the individual must fulfil the conditions with regard to appropriate age; they must undergo training, have appropriate navigation experience and be healthy.
The authorisation for the title is issued in Slovene and English.
