Professional testing station manager
In order to operate correctly, a testing station must have a professional manager with an appropriate education and work experience. A professional manager must be trained to perform and manage testing station tasks.
A professional testing station manager manages and, at the same time, controls the measuring and testing of domestic animal properties for the needs of selection programmes and the needs of comparative tests as well as for the rearing of breeding animals.

Professional managers of test stations must have at least a university degree in the field of agriculture – zootechnics and at least five years' work experience in the field of animal selection.

Professional managers must be highly professionally competent to carry out the tasks at test stations.
The professional training programme is carried out to improve, expand and deepen knowledge for the needs of the implementation of breeding programmes. The programme lasts a maximum of 16 school hours and includes the following topics:
- general knowledge in animal husbandry;
- new knowledge in the implementation of breeding programmes;
- new features in regulations that regulate animal husbandry;
- new methods of animal assessment and the forecast of the breeding values;
- special characteristics when capturing, processing and interpreting information in animal husbandry.
Applicants lodge an application with the training provider.
Following the completion of professional training, the training provider must announce at least three dates for the test of knowledge. The test of knowledge is carried out in written form and lasts 45 minutes.
The result of the test is assessed as " pass-a" or" fail-a". If an applicant fails to pass the test on three occasions, they take each further test before a three-member commission.
The material is prepared by the training provider in written form in Slovenian for each participant.
The costs of training, the test of knowledge and the issuing of official certificates are borne by the participants or the organisation that referred them.
Following training, the participants receive a certificate of participation and a certificate of passing the test of knowledge.Training programmes must be attended every five years and completed with a test of knowledge.

Cross-border provisions of profession
Poklic strokovni vodja testnih postaj ne sodi v storitveno direktivo. Čezmejno opravljanje poklica v tem primeru ni možno.
