Professional worker in the field of safety at work
Among the professionals who implement the initial training of coordinators with the contractor of initial trainings there must be at least one professional worker with at least high education of the first level in the field of safety at work or equal level of technical field related to safety at work.
The professional must also pass the professional examination in the field of the respective discipline and the initial examination for coordinators and have the certificate on the completed periodical trainings.

The coordinators for safety and health at work on temporary and movable construction sites must be professionally trained.
The first training is performed at the contractor who has acquired the authorisation. After the implemented first training the coordinator takes the first knowledge test. Coordinators take the first test in the knowledge on professional qualification with an expert commission at the Labour Inspectorate of the Republic of Slovenia.
The first knowledge test comprises the oral presentation of the safety plan and documentation as well as the knowledge about:
- legislation in the field of safety and health at work and in the field of construction of buildings;
- tasks of coordinators for safety and health at work;
- prevention of risks for safety and health at work;
- methods of harmonising safety at work in the phase of project preparation;
- methods of harmonising safety at work in the phase of project implementation (additionally for coordinators in the project implementation phase).
The first knowledge test is taken in written and oral form. Coordinator candidate initially answers the questions in the above mentioned areas in writing. This is followed by the oral part that comprises the oral presentation of the written part of the first knowledge test and oral presentation of the safety plan and documentation.The candidate for taking the first knowledge test is applied at the inspectorate by the contractor. The inspectorate notifies the contractor in written form on the time and place of implementing the first test of knowledge.
A candidate who successfully passes the knowledge test receives a confirmation that is signed by the president of the expert commission.
The contractor who applies the candidate carries the costs of the first knowledge test.
The inspectorate manages a register of coordinators that comprises the number of the confirmation, name and surname of the coordinator.

Even after the passed first knowledge test, coordinators must be permanently professionally trained, including participation at expert seminars, consults and conferences in the field of ensuring safety and health of workers on construction sites. These seminars, consults and conferences must take at least 4 school hours.
The programme must entail at least innovations in the field of legislation that regulates the guaranteeing of safety and health at work on construction sites and one of the current problems in the field of ensuring safety and health at work on construction sites.
Every 5 years, the coordinator must renew his/her knowledge on safety and health at work on temporary and movable construction sites. It is considered that the coordinator renews knowledge if they attend a periodical training at least twice in the current year, i.e. which was preliminarily applied at the Labour Inspectorate.
A coordinator who was permanently professionally trained must lodge a request for the issue of the confirmation at the Inspectorate every 5 years.
The validity of the issued confirmation of coordinators who do not lodge an application for the issue of the confirmation on the participation at periodical trainings prior to the expiry of the deadline for the preliminarily acquired confirmation, will be terminated on the date of the validity of the confirmation and will have to once again undergo the first training and the first knowledge test.
If the candidate does not attend at least two training sessions every current year, they have to take a periodical knowledge test prior to the expiry of the 5-year period. The periodical knowledge test is taken in written form and encompasses the knowledge about the valid legislation in the field of safety and health at work. The coordinator applies for the test at the inspectorate with a prescribed form.
The validity of the issued confirmation of coordinators who do not lodge an application for the periodical knowledge test prior to the expiry of the validity of the confirmation on the passed first knowledge test, will be terminated on the date of the validity of the confirmation and will have to once again undergo initial training and the first knowledge test.
The candidate receives a new confirmation after the appointed commission establishes the participation of the candidate at periodical trainings and after the invoice is paid.
