Switch operator

A switch operator is an adult who is professionally trained for performing the tasks of a switch operator, who has adequate education and is fit for the job in terms of physical condition and language skills.

Primary tasks of a switch operator are operating the track switches to ensure safe train driving or shunting, operating level crossing equipment to ensure traffic safety, signalling that the train has fully entered the assigned track, and reporting any defects on the train.
