First knowledge test for coordinators
The first training is performed at the contractor who has acquired the authorisation. After the implemented first training the coordinator takes the first knowledge test. Coordinators take the first test in the knowledge on professional qualification with an expert commission at the Labour Inspectorate of the Republic of Slovenia.
The first knowledge test comprises the oral presentation of the safety plan and documentation as well as the knowledge about:
- legislation in the field of safety and health at work and in the field of construction of buildings;
- tasks of coordinators for safety and health at work;
- prevention of risks for safety and health at work;
- methods of harmonising safety at work in the phase of project preparation;
- methods of harmonising safety at work in the phase of project implementation (additionally for coordinators in the project implementation phase).
The first knowledge test is taken in written and oral form. Coordinator candidate initially answers the questions in the above mentioned areas in writing. This is followed by the oral part that comprises the oral presentation of the written part of the first knowledge test and oral presentation of the safety plan and documentation.
The candidate for taking the first knowledge test is applied at the inspectorate by the contractor. The inspectorate notifies the contractor in written form on the time and place of implementing the first test of knowledge.
A candidate who successfully passes the knowledge test receives a confirmation that is signed by the president of the expert commission.
The contractor who applies the candidate carries the costs of the first knowledge test.
The inspectorate manages a register of coordinators that comprises the number of the confirmation, name and surname of the coordinator.

Basic andragogic skills are proven with a certificate of a passed training in the field of basic knowledge of andragogy in the scope of at least 24 academic hours according to a programme approved as suitable by the Ministry of Labour, Family, Social Affairs and Equal Opportunities.

The basic professional examination with the Slovenian Chamber of Engineers is divided into two parts:
- The general part is the same for all applicants and is oral.
- The special part is different, depending on the type of examination, and is oral and written.
The conditions to sit an exam:

Exam resit:
Rest examinations: the candidate resits an examination for the subject where they received a negative grade. The candidate applies with a valid application form 30 days prior to the examination date. The candidate can resit the examination several times, if it is taken in 2 years from the first application. The costs of a resit:

The professional exam comprises written and oral parts. The written part comprises a written assignment, the oral part comprises knowledge test and oral presentation of the written assignment. The programme of the professional exam is available on the website of the Ministry of Public Administration.
With the written assignment, the candidate proves his qualified capacity to prepare professional grounds for the risk assessment and safety statement pursuant to the rules of profession related to the safety and health at work and regulations.
The member of the examination board determines the written assignment to the candidate at least 30 days before the professional examination and also notifies the Ministry of Public Administration. At least 10 days before the professional examination takes place, the candidate submits the written assignment in electronic form to the member of the examination board who delegated the written assignment and to the Ministry of Public Administration.
If the candidate without any justified reason fails to submit the written assignment within the stated deadline or fails to sit for the professional examination on the determined date, it is deemed that he failed the professional examination.
The instructions for the preparation of the written assignment may also help the candidate.
The oral part of the exam takes a maximum of 60 minutes. A candidate is evaluated for the professional exam with the grade "successful" or "not successful". Candidates who have passed professional examination receive a certificate of passing professional examination signed by the president of the exam board.
Candidates can apply for the professional exam at the Ministry of Public Administration at least 45 days prior to the envisaged date for taking the professional exam, i.e. with the application form that can be sent in electronic form to e-mail: gp.mju@gov.si. The application form must also comprise the statement of the achieved level and type of education and the confirmation on advance payment.
Such application must contain:
- name and surname of the candidate;
- candidate's personal identification number;
- candidate's permanent residence;
- phone/mobile phone number;
- fax, e-mail; name and address of the authority/organisation or company that applies the candidate (not required for candidates who pay for the exam);
- tax number of the authority/organisation or company that applies the candidat or
- the payer's statement that the authority/organisation is liable for VAT under the law (yes, no) – title of finished school;
- level and type of education;
- job;
- total work period in years and work period in the field of safety and health at work in years;
- indication of the type of expert exam which you want to take (professional exam in safety and health at work or general part of the professional exam in safety and health at work);
- the date of taking the exam;
- statement on the truthfulness of data.
A candidate who applies for taking the professional exam and fulfils the prescribed conditions is notified by the Ministry of Public Administration on the examination board, the place and time of professional exam at least 15 days prior to the date of taking the exam.The Ministry of Public Administration keeps the register of professional exams in electronic form; and the data from the register are available to the ministry and the inspectorate.
The exam costs are 196,64 €.
